The Fargesia is a 784 SQ FT single floor 2-bedroom, 2-bath modern house originally designed for an urban or rural setting. It has a private, quiet street view with a rear view focal point featuring clerestory windows and swinging and bi-folding doors that connects the interior to a patio. Ceilings are sloped throughout the house and range from 9'-0" along the street side all the way up to 12'-0" at the rear view and patio side.
Main bedroom enjoys a 3/4 bath, French doors, and closet space while the guest bedroom has a private courtyard shower and pergola sitting area and an independent bathroom.
Need an additional closet? You can convert the water closet into a coat space and create a full bathroom in the bathing area.
House is engineered for simple construction and superinsulation. Roof is capable of achieving an R-60, walls up to R-40, and slab an R-10 to R-50. A heat recovery ventilator is required. With proper placement for solar gain, this house is expected to have a very small heating load. There's an option for a heat pump and/or zero-clearance, direct-vent NG or LPG fireplace in the great room.
Although this plan was designed for a city landscape, it could easily be adapted to a rural setting, especially one featuring a strong view.
